FAQ
What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?
CBD is a chemical compound found in Cannabis sativa L., better known as hemp.
This natural compound has been consumed for thousands of years, but has only been studied for about 80 years. Scientists from all around the world have published studies on the use and possible benefits of a CBD regimen.
We, as humans, have the ability to consume CBD and other cannabinoids because of our Endocannabinoid System (ECS), which is a neuromodulatory system. Our ECS has three core components: endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. Our body produces endocannabinoids when they are needed to cary out certain functions. They bind to either of one of our two endocannabinoid receptors: CB1 receptors are mostly found in our central nervous system and CB2 receptors are mostly found in our peripheral nervous system, like immune cells. Once the endocannabinoids carry out their function, they are broken down by their appropriate enzymes.
When consumed, CBD binds to either CB1 and CB2 receptors and is also broken down by our enzymes after it has completed its function. In short, our bodies were designed with the capability of consuming CBD, which makes it a safe natural compound.
Is CBD legal?
Yes, all of our hemp products are legal.
Hemp and hemp products are federally legal in the US under the USDA 2018 Farm Bill as long as the delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) concentration is less than 0.3%. Any responsible company will provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA) to ensure that what you are buying is federally compliant.
Will CBD get me high?
No, CBD won’t get you high.
CBD is a non-psychoactive compound and will not get you high. THC, however, is psychoactive and can get you high in higher concentrations. Some people are more sensitive to cannabinoids than others. When you consume cannabinoids for the first time, we recommend starting with a smaller dose and adjusting your dosage according to your desired effect.
What’s the difference between Full-Spectrum CBD and THC-Free CBD?
Full-Spectrum has less than 0.3% THC while THC-Free has no THC at all.
Our Full-Spectrum CBD has all of the cannabinoids extracted from our natural hemp, including THC. It offers an array of cannabinoids that most resembles the natural hemp it was extracted from.
THC-Free CBD has been refined to isolate the CBD, removing all of the other cannabinoids in the process. We offer THC-Free CBD for government employees, professional athletes, and others who don’t want to risk having any THC in their system.
Could I fail a drug test?
It's not impossible.
Although our products are legal and below the 0.3% THC limit, it is still possible that THC can appear on a drug test. Drug test results can vary accourding to your metabolic rate, how much hemp flower or full-spectrum CBD you have consumed and how much time has passed, and the test method’s Limit of Quantification (LOQ). The LOQ determines how much THC needs to be present in your sample for the test to be able to detect that it is even present.
If you are concerned about regular or random drug tests, we offer THC-Free CBD, which has zero THC, in Tinctures and Gummy Bears.
What’s the best way to take CBD?
Whichever way is best for you!
CBD products come in a variety of forms and not everyone uses CBD for the same reason. Because the FDA does not allow us to suggest or make any claims about our products, we can’t tell you that a certain product is better for one thing or another. We do, however, offer a variety of products so you can choose which form best suits your preferences and lifestyle:
How much CBD should I take?
It depends on your metabolic rate and desired effect.
Everyone’s metabolic rate (the rate at which your body breaks down and processes what you eat) is determined by their genetics and influenced by their lifestyle. Your metabolic rate will determine how much, and how often, you need to take CBD to find relief.
To find your optimal dosing regimen, pay attention to how much CBD you take at a time and how often you need another serving. If you are unsure how much CBD you need, we recommend that you start with a full serving. If you need or prefer a stronger effect, you can take another serving after 45 minutes. Once you’ve figured out how much CBD you need, you can simply automate your CBD purchases on a schedule that best suits your consumption. Just click Subscribe & Save when selecting your product options and we’ll automatically ship your products to you on your preferred schedule—you won’t have to worry about re-ordering each time and you’ll be saving money!
Why doesn’t IBIS Miami sell Delta-8-THC?
It’s unregulated and not as natural as you may think.
Delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol, or Delta-8, is a naturally occurring compound in most cannabis strains. However, cannabis is only able to produce Delta-8 in trace amounts. So how is it possible to that there are so many Delta-8 products? The Delta-8 in products you see in stores, and online, are all synthesized from CBD using chemistry, which is currently unregulated. There are multiple ways to synthesize a compound, and the processes vary from safe and pure to dangerous and hazardous.
IBIS Miami is dedicated to improving health. We cannot, in good conscious, support a part of the industry that so many others are unsafely taking advantage of. Scientists at ProVerd tested thousands of products labeled as Delta-8, and what they found was disturbing. None of the products tested can be considered legitimate Delta-8 products. Results show that these products contain other cannabinoids that are not naturally occurring in cannabis. In most cases, nothing is known on the health effects of these impurities. And residual solvents, acids, and bases used to synthesize Delta-8 frequently appeared in these test results. Those impurities should never be present in final products—proper refinement processes can ensure purity. But the lack of regulation allows these companies to withold this information from consumers. In fact, Delta-8 is of such a concern that several states have already banned the compound to be sold in products.
At IBIS Miami, we’re all about transparency and keeping our products natural, starting from our hemp seeds all the way to our labeled products. Adding Delta-8 to our products is not only a risky legal move, but would contradict what we stand for. Until more data is collected on the use, safety, and efficacy of Delta-8, we will continue with our safety-driven and ethical practices.
